Luggage Evaluation SBB

For SBB, the luggage volume and the associated passenger behaviour in ETR610 passenger trains on the Lötschberg axis were evaluated in order to derive recommendations for new vehicles.

Client: SBB – Passenger Traffic, Long-distance Traffic Fleet Management

Duration: 2013

Project description: ETR610 trains on the Lötschberg axis between Bern and Brig carried out exact luggage-data surveys and related passenger behaviour evaluations. The observations provided precise information on passenger behaviour with regard to seat selection and luggage accommodation. These observations allow analogies to other vehicle types including new vehicles and provide an essential basis for an efficient room layout of luggage-storage options.
